It's well known that Nestor Makhno's ashes are preserved in Père-Lachaise cemetery, vault No. 6686. His ashes were evidently moved around a bit, because Alexander Berkman mentions them being at No. 3934. I seem to recall that a vault was originally rented for 50 years, and that just before time was up, was renewed for another 50 years. Does anyone recall details about this? There is currently a move afoot to return his ashes to Gulyai-Polye. The motive here seems to be solely linked to boosting the local tourist trade.
